Montana Security Guard Licensure Practice Exam – Practice Test & Study Guide

Handling sensitive information properly is crucial for security guards, as they often have access to personal, financial, or operational data that requires protection. The correct approach is to treat such information with confidentiality and adhere to data protection laws.

This means that security guards should maintain the privacy of all sensitive data, ensuring that it is not disclosed to unauthorized individuals or entities. Furthermore, following data protection guidelines assists in preventing breaches, identity theft, and other forms of exploitation that could arise from mishandling sensitive information. Employing best practices such as secure storage, limited access, and proper disposal of sensitive documents is essential to safeguarding this information.

The other options are inappropriate because sharing sensitive information with friends can lead to unauthorized dissemination, neglecting data protection guidelines can create vulnerabilities, and posting information online exposes it to a wider audience, potentially compromising security and privacy. Thus, option D encompasses the essential duties and ethical responsibilities required of security personnel in handling sensitive data.
